In the 1970s, large outdoors concert festivals blossomed along with the growing audiences the super-groups attracted. Legendary UK promoter Freddy Bannister played an instrumental role in producing countless gigs in the 1960s and 1970s. The all-star Bath Festivals later progressed to his new vision... Knebworth.
"There Must Be A Better Way", a spectacular new limited edition signed & numbered box set contains a vast collection of mint quality reproductions, photos, video documentary and a new book by Bannister. Included is a complete set of printed collectibles from the various Knebworth festivals of the 1970s featuring: programmes, tickets, flyers ads and more. Rolling Stones, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, Jefferson Starship, Frank Zappa, Peter Gabriel and of course Led Zeppelin in 1979 are some of the bands featured.
Approximately 45 large glossy photographs capture the action from both on and off stage. A video documentary - Spirit of Knebworth - features rare footage (including Skynard, Stones, Genesis & more - no Zeppelin though). The video is available in NTSC and PAL.
Freddy Bannister's 200 page book, included in this special edition set offers fans compelling and detailed accounts of his dealings with top acts & their managements. His years of friendship and business dealings with Peter Grant are revealed, including his controversial dark side.

Insight into several near-deals with signing Zeppelin to play are detailed, most notably in 1974 when a Melody Maker reporter single-handedly ruined it by pre-maturely announcing them to play. "I told him Zeppelin would pull out if he ran the story," says Bannister. "I then tried to work out a deal giving him total exclusivity on the announcement and coverage of the festival if he would just hold off for another week - again he refused to even consider it. That following Thursday, the Melody Maker carried on it's front page in huge letters - 'Together for just one show: Zeppelin, Allmans!'. "Joint equals", recalled Bannister, "Oh my god, that's it. I knew Peter didn't consider any band to be Zeppelin's equal, let alone The Allmans." Needless to say, Led Zeppelin did not play Knebworth that year.

The book's behind-the-scenes story of Zeppelin's 1979 headline concerts portrays a darker side of Peter Grant. "Fear" as well as growing disillusionment with the business led to Bannister's decision to retire soon after. - Sam Rappallo
